Shankar Marathe - Mumbai, 8th May 2026 - There are celebrity weddings. And then there was the wedding of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia.
Pure Hindi cinema royalty.
Garlands everywhere.
Bouquets piling up.
Flashbulbs exploding. And in the same frame stood giants like Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, and Saira Banu blessing the newlyweds like some once-in-a-generation Bollywood darbar.
Rajesh Khanna was at the peak of superstardom then. Not famous. Not successful. Superstardom in the true, feverish, uncontrollable sense.
And beside him was teenage Dimple, glowing like a fresh Hindi film dream before even her debut had properly released.
The photographs from that wedding still feel unreal.
Not because of nostalgia.
Because an entire era of Hindi cinema seems trapped inside those frames.
